At Holiday Express Hotel, we are committed to protecting the environment while delivering memorable and high-quality guest experiences. By reducing water and energy consumption and adopting responsible operating practices, we strive to minimize our environmental footprint and support sustainable development.
Reducing Waste & Single-Use Plastics
We actively encourage guests to help eliminate single-use plastics such as cups, straws, and cutlery. As part of our future sustainability goals, we are working toward the complete removal of single-use toiletries, including small bottles of soap and shampoo.
Holiday Express Hotel has eliminated single-use plastic straws and stirrers across the hotel. Eco-friendly paper straws are available upon request.
Linen & Towel Reuse Program
Guests are encouraged to reuse towels for more than one day before washing. This initiative helps reduce water usage and minimizes detergent runoff that can pollute local water sources.
Sound Environmental Practices
Holiday Express Hotel is dedicated to preserving natural resources while reducing the environmental and social impacts of our operations.
Staff Awareness & Training
Our team members regularly participate in workshops and seminars conducted by the hotel’s environmental committee, local government agencies, and non-governmental environmental organizations. This ensures our staff remain informed and engaged in sustainable practices.
Water Conservation Program
We consistently monitor water usage across all areas of the property, including guest rooms, swimming pools, kitchens, dining areas, and gardens, to ensure efficient and responsible use.
Energy Management Program
Energy-saving measures include the use of timers on electrical equipment such as whirlpools, steam rooms, outdoor pathway lighting, and refrigeration units in our kitchens to reduce unnecessary energy consumption.
Waste Management Program
Recycling is a daily practice at Holiday Express Hotel. This includes linen and bedspreads, food waste, office paper, and packaging materials.
Control of Hazardous Substances
All products are carefully evaluated before purchase to ensure environmental suitability. Full training is provided to staff whenever new chemicals or equipment are introduced.
Social & Cultural Development
In support of local culture and community development, Holiday Express Hotel promotes local tours and attractions, with special recognition given to eco-friendly “green tours.” Local artisans are invited to display and sell their handmade crafts in our Craft Shop, creating meaningful connections between guests and the community.
Supporting Local Communities
Giving back to the community is central to our mission. We proudly support local farmers and women’s groups by sourcing food and ingredients locally. Our kitchens use Ugandan coffee and tea grown by communities across the country, including:
- Arabica coffee from the highland regions of Fort Portal, Mbale, Kabale, and Kasese
- Robusta coffee from lowland areas and around Lake Victoria
- Fresh fish sourced responsibly from Lake Victoria
